ENLISTING WITH A COLLEGE DEGREE

July 29, 2019

what's going on YouTube it's bully juice here if you're new to my channel welcome aboard my my og returning bullies out there welcome back so I thought to this video because I get a lot of questions in my inbox at AMI why did I decide to enlist in the Air Force rather than Commission when I had a degree so really is three main reason why I actually decided to go ahead and lift in the Air Force rather than commissioning and I'm going to discuss all three of those just to give you a little background my goal was always to commissioned as an officer I grew up a military brat my father was an officer in the Marine Corps watching him shining boots Narns uniform and make sure his rank on his collar was good to go was something that I always watched and admired I've seen how much pride he took in walking out the house and an uniform and that's something that kind of stuck with me growing up through the years so that's something I always remember so that was always my goal so I went to college first I ended up garnering a full ride scholarship to run track at North Carolina A&T on graduating I didn't work a few jobs here and there but in the back of my head I was always thinking about going ahead and joining the military so I spoke with my father and he kind of gave me some insight few words of wisdom and I was like okay I'm ready to join the airforce contrary to popular belief commissioning is not always hey get your degree and that did that's not all indicate especially with the airport most definitely if you're trying to become a pilot in any branch there's going to be some more loopholes when I have to jump through to make sure you're good to go reason number one actually why I decide to enlist rather than Commission first with the fact that I did want to gang the experience of the enlisted side my head my viewpoint coming into this I want to always be the best I can be that and anything I do I want to be the best version of me doing that particular task I don't care what it is I want to be the best I can be I'm not going to be the best person in the world at everything that I do but I want to make sure I'm maximizing my ability to do it and why I'm saying I felt as if I was going to be an office or something leading and guiding other military members wear that Biddy off the board the enlisted side of things I felt like I would kind of want to have like knowledge of both sides if that makes sense I wanted to gain a little bit of knowledge from the enlisted side and that experience so that one day when I am officer I could say hey okay I've been there I did that I know what you're going through I know what they thinkin I know the mindset that they have but I was there something and I do feel like I have that I do have a lot of gratitude for the experiences that I have gained in and enlisted Airmen I do know how I filled in the air but when you only have a couple strikes some people not everybody but some people may look at you like you're less than them and you can tell some people may be little you some people may feel like you haven't done anything they may feel like hey you're not worth as much as them because you ain't putting no work and you don't have to be respect it because of the couple strikes you have on your shoulder so um I really don't respect anybody's mindset like that I have zero respect for them because just like you're a human being I'm a human being as well the different customs and courtesies of course I respect the rank all day I respect that regular on your shoulders I respect that rank thing we're on a college but at the same time I should get respect being a person I should get respect for that some people feel as if they don't necessarily have to give you that respect because they are reg you and that's wrong and that's something that I've learned me at the bottom of the sentence I've learned that so now I have that monster thing when I'm in that position when I'm in the leadership position enlisted or off I'm not going to treat people like that I'm taking good leaders and learn how to meet and the right thing to do when I take it badly they got a mindset on on what not to be and how not be I've taken both of those and kind of store them socking utilize those tools later on in life but that would be some reason and Wilde was ok with hey let's go ahead and live but then I can always Commission later on right the number two reason would be a simple fact that I feel like I wasn't qualified enough so when you're trying to Commission first off you're pushing a package to a board and they're looking at these papers of you in fan hey if you qualify through this job do we think he'll make it to leader all these difference that you they're trying to base a whole person concept on just these papers they never met me they never looked at me and had a conversation with me not anything they're looking at these papers and saying hey what has he done what can he do if you don't have a whole lot to put in that package but hey I got a degree uh hey I took the test uh that that's all you got and you ain't competing you're not competing so at the time I feel like it would have been a waste of my time to even submit if I couldn't compete I had no job experience I ran track they paid for everything though I didn't have to work I didn't have time to do internships and all these other stuff so I didn't really have much on my plate but hey I got a degree I ran track I was really bad you know that that ain't no could it dangle could so that was another reason why I did it what ultimately the main reason why I decided to enlist first rather than wait and Commission was I did not have the patient like I previously mentioned there's a lot of things you have to do with notice to Commission ultimately especially if you have a degree in you're going for OTS you have to take a test the FOP take this test so the way people describe it the way I would describe it because I'm taking it as well is like the adverb once they're away it's super challenging of mainly the time I would say you have a short amount of time to do a lot of things and you have to train your mind to be able to analyze a lot of dollars back that's how I would explain it but this particular test you only have two times to take it so if you don't qualify the first time you have to wait six months and then take it again if you mess up on that time you're done you have no more chances to take that test on rare occasions you may be given a waiver to take it a third time but who wants to take that chance who wants to take it so I fill it and hope for a waiver to take it a third time and passed it nobody you want to be one of those you want to take it one time and packed it at the time I felt like more tests like that I want to study so that would be me taking a couple months to study for taking the test hoping that I pass ahead to not have to wait six more months to actually retake it and then mess around and fill it again that was another reason why I was like go ahead and wait you know I wait I want to take it it was the fear of messing up on it twice that they're not been able to ever take it again and also another reason I didn't want to wait was the simple fact that you have a particular board to wait for didn't want to wait for these board schedules I didn't want to wait six months to the board submit a package in hopes that I make it and they're not making it had to wait six more month eight months I whenever the next board is going to be I don't want to have to wait for those board I was ready to go I was ready to get up out of town I was ready to go ASAP get my career started that's why we're ready to do so I have patience to wait for the board wait to take the test I don't have patience for anything I didn't have patience to put together this whole package and in hopes of getting accepted and then you know if I don't then I have to wait even more I was ready to go just didn't want to wait I get this question all the time why did I enlist rather than Commission although I have a degree so I hope this answered majority of your questions that you have pertaining to this I felt like you know once I join hey I could get to work I could start you know building a package now you know I hate been active duty for this amount of time he does he's done this as an airman he's done this I also felt as if they look at it as far as it's easier to take somebody from the enlisted side and have them become officer versus take a civilian and completely have to teach them discipline and leading and all these other things versus you already have someone that has been planning already been in the military environment so they have already adapted to the military lifestyle and you're making them into a leader so I felt it that that would be another plus side to me enlisting first I plan on submitting a packet soon or everything it has came together nicely but the board day actually got canceled and moved to a later so I will be submitting later on I'm waiting for that new board date to come so I can submit to that and I hope I do well I just recently submitted a package to this other program it's pretty competitive maybe it and make it all the way up to the top and I get chosen to be one of the next officer candidates to go to OTS as always I hope this video has helped you guys if you have not subscribed make sure you do so join us for the team but come up lily we cool over here but until next time i'ma have to catch you guys later

Hello, I'm thinking to go straight to the workforce after high school graduation since its really not worth putting over 40 grand for a diploma. I also do not wanna face any debt. I've considered working with trade jobs. Do students still have debt to pay after graduating college regardless of the scholarships they receive? What are your opinions towards this? People that don't go to college, do they still suceed in life? Do college required jobs pay more than non required college jobs?

So, if you went into banking and you had two opportunities, bank teller or asst vice president, you would rather be a bank teller because of what now? I call "bs". Either your grades weren't up to par or you just made a bad decision.

Most effective way to become an Officer = ROTC

Ladies and gentlemen, just Remember that the Security Forces badge "outranks" all. I use to love working the front gate with narcissistic brass coming through. I control the flow and nobody "outranks" that badge.. 😂. I loved the look on their stuck up ass faces.

All degrees are not equal. A Computer Engineering degree holds way more value than a Psychology degree for example. All the people I've met that are enlisted all had "worthless" degrees.

Do you think it’s a good idea to submit a package after serving one year as an enlisted?

  • Reply NN Dib July 29, 2019 at 2:42 pm

And also from what I've learned about OCS is that if you're not an engineer you most likely won't make it in ocs

Did you do 4 years active duty, then go to school to re-enlist?

I find some people to be rather small minded when it comes to this. Some people with degrees cant find civilian jobs due to the "3-10 year experience" entry level job requirement. Then, some might have debts. Or, some might later hate what they studied in college and wish to gain hands on skills in something else. Perhaps, some might want to have a relevant military job that will let them put their degree to use rather than managing people in an officer position that doesn't relate to their degree. And hello?? The officer application process can take nearly a year and is competitive. So many reasons.

I have two degrees in two different fields and will most likely lie about only having one Bachelors and nothing more. Probably would be less of a headache in my case.

I also went enlisted in the army but I have my degree. I feel like you need to learn how to follow before you can lead. I just got offered OCS and I can't wait to submit my packet.

Everyone joining the military should have the mindset that it isn’t for the money.

I like this video cuz for those with bachelors who may not be competitive on the board would just walk away from the military all together I thought NO ONE with a bachelors enlisted
