Resident Evil 3: Nemesis | Weapons Review – Part 1

October 9, 2019

What up, it’s SHANKSTER 94, and welcome to Resident Evil 3 Nemesis weapons Little quick note: gathering all the weapons on this game is not nearly as easy as in Resident Evil 1 or 2 Because there are some weapons you can only get in hard mode and there are some weapons you can only get in Mercenaries mode. So, anyway, onto the weapons review So, as usual, we’ll start with the knife Alright, let’s test it out Alright, now, let’s test it out on an enemy That took 11 slashes Now, I’ll give you more statistics once I test it with Carlos Took 11 slashes. So…once again, as I said for Resident Evil 1 and 2, the knife is not recommended unless you’re going for the knife challenge or you absolutely have no options And in this Resident Evil, I really don’t think it should come to that Let’s move on back to Jill and for the next weapon Now for the next weapon: the handgun This is the exact handgun from Resident Evil 1 Just like a custom edition Alright, let’s test it out. Oh, by the way, there are two types of ammo Regular handgun bullets and enhanced To get the enhanced… In Resident Evil 3, they have gunpowders and they have this thing called the reloading tool. If you combine the gunpowder with the reloading tool, then you get some bullets and if you use the same gunpowder and combine it with the reloading tool…. …a frequent amount of times, then you unlock the ability to make the enhanced bullets So, that’s how that works So, anyway, first I’ll show it off with regular ammo Alright, cool. Now, let’s it with regular ammo on an enemy 5 shots Now, from my experience, it can take from 4-9 shots depending on difficulty and distance Alright, now for the handgun with enhanced ammo Much better Alright, NOW let’s test it on a zombie Now it takes only 4 shots It can take between 3 and 7 shots, in my opinion Now just so you know, if there’s any hardcore Resident Evil veterans watching this and you think my estimates are wrong, I don’t blame you. I’m not good with estimates. These are just my educated estimates From my own experience. If you want, you can put in the comments box your estimate of how many bullets it takes for each gun for a zombie Anyway, now for the next weapon Now the Umbrella Mercenaries use a different handgun than what Jill uses Their handgun….is what the game calls the mercenary’s handgun Alright, let’s test it out Alright, now let’s test that handgun on a zombie Alright, 7 shots Basically the same statistics as Jill’s handgun, in my opinion So, you already know the statistics Alright, now for the next weapon Alright, now for the next weapon: the Eagle 6.0 Alright, a little note: you can only get this weapon in hard mode by defeating Nemesis twice. He’ll drop two parts for this gun: parts A and parts B. And, another note: this weapon, this handgun cannot be combined with the enhanced ammo. Just regular ammo Alright, let’s test it out And lemme show you its firing speed It reloads much faster than the standard handgun Alright, now, let’s test this out on a zombie That took 4 shots Now, as you just saw right there, the Eagle 6.0 has a special ability. It has a high percent rate of a critical headshot And sometimes, you can get the critical on the very first shot like I pulled right there Normally, it took 4 shots and with the eagle, it can take 1-11 shots. I’ve actually had it take 11 shots one time for a standard zombie So, that is my estimate Alright, that’s it for the Eagle 6.0 Now, to move onto the next weapon I feel it neccessary to mention: Resident Evil 3 has a cool new dodging system that Resident Evil 1 and 2 unfortunately didn’t have. Now, one of the dodging animations is a roll and it normally occurs like when a strong attack comes at you and you dodge it Now, what’s cool is if you have any type of handgun, which is the M92F, Eagle, or the Sigpro, if you manage to perform the roll dodge, your character will go into a crouch and start shooting the handgun at 1.5x the speed they normally shoot it So, I think I’m gonna demonstrate that right now Now, this is life-risking so don’t be surprised if I get my head cut off Alright, see. There you go! That can save your life and sometimes it can put you in a worse situation That is what happens when you do the roll animation with the handgun. You fire it faster

  • Reply Matkerzah August 30, 2012 at 1:16 pm

I think that the STI Eagle is different from the rest of the other critical handguns (in other Classic REs, that is), as its critical shot deals the dmg of a Magnum, although I haven't tested most of the other crit. handguns in other classic RE (because RE4 and 5 the crits surely doesn't carry magnum dmg).

These are the only videos on YouTube that pay tribute to the most overlooked component of Resident Evil: the awesome weapons. 🙂 The Resident Evil designers have spared no expense in picking and programming the best possible weapons for the characters. Nice job!

the enhanced pistol can sometimes(if you are lucky) take 2 shots for a zombie, no importance for the difficulty

  • Reply Dat Pyro Dragon April 16, 2013 at 7:25 pm

Capcom should seriously remake this game like they did with resident evil 1, I would be happy if they remade 0,1,2,3, and code veronica for wii u, ps3, and Xbox to be fair

  • Reply StevenCodeBlack August 4, 2013 at 2:10 pm

Not bragging I've beat RE3 several times I've lost count of the exact number IDRC how many times I've beat it but the one thing I have left to do is gonna require me to take the knife challenge and beat mercenaries as Nicholai, (Note he only has knife & a Sigpro SP2009 handgun but no extra ammo unless you rescue civilians) also no exact number of shots it takes to kill zombies especially on RE3 how the enemy's health is randomized Carlos can also get the STI Eagle 6.0 in mercenaries

  • Reply Tobey's Ark August 19, 2013 at 10:46 am

I beat this game in 1 hour and 30 minutes. Oh and I challenge someone to use the knife on resident evil 3 without taking any hits and digging everything on the hardest difficulty and beat it in 3-4 hours. It would be the hardest game ever especially when nemesis chases u. Holly crap that would be the most bad ass thing ever if someone did that

  • Reply Tobey's Ark August 19, 2013 at 10:46 am

Damn auto correct! I meant dodging

  • Reply Seizure Salad August 26, 2013 at 5:01 am

Actually I've found the Knife to be very useful in re3 at least in the beginning. Simply shoot a zombie with a pistol until in falls then slash it when its down and maybe one more slash when it gets up. (gotta love that about face manuever)

  • Reply Chris Hernando January 20, 2014 at 12:48 am

I think where you aim the knife, handgun, etc make a difference in how many hits it takes to put an enemy down.

  • Reply austin willson July 19, 2014 at 1:25 pm

just a random question were the controls hard for u in RE 1 RE 2 RE 3 and RE CODE V X

Well for Re2 and Re3 I primarily use the knife on dogs.Only because dogs eat up alot of ammo

  • Reply ALI KHALED February 16, 2017 at 10:14 am

can anyone told me how to make the enhancement bullet

  • Reply Lyserg1260 August 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm

Enchanced ammo is useless. You can't use with EAGLE and you have to waste a lot of ammo to make them.
You need to use Gunpowder A eight times, while combinations like AAA, which gives you more ammo than just using A three times, still count as one. I never use it. EAGLE with standard ammo is a lot better weapon imo. The same goes for custom shotgun.

Funny how the desert eagle in RE2 is 50 caliber and yet they have the weakest sound effect. Now the .44 Magnum revolver in RE3 sounded beefier and more kick to it which puts alot of magnum from RE2 to shame…

I completed this game so many time but I had no idea about the enhanced ammo

  • Reply StevenCodeBlack October 1, 2019 at 4:50 pm

As far as what you said about not being able to test enhanced ammo with Nicholai's Sigpro Handgun, I now have an updated statistic in case anyone wants to know.

Through Hex editing of the PC version, I was able to hex edit the Sigpro and an unlimited supply of both normal and enhanced ammo into Jill's inventory on Hard Difficulty. To my surprise I discovered when testing both it and the Samurai Edge against Nemesis round 1, that they both took the same number of enhanced bullets to defeat Nemesis approximately 34 enhanced rounds or roughly 55 normal handgun bullets.

Therefore it seems as though both Jill's M92FS Custom Samurai Edge and the U.B.C.S. Merc's Handgun have the same exact firepower stats. If you would like me to record footage of this test, I can do so if you want to add it to this.
