Splatoon Rapid Blaster Pro Deco Weapon Tour & Gameplay w/ Nintendome & NWPlayer123

September 20, 2019

Alright kids and squids, what is going on?
It is Hank here from Nintendome. It seems that Santa has arrived at Inkopolis a bit
early this year so yeah today we are getting another fresh weapon in Splatoon. In this
case it’s going to be the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco. Now before I begin this video, I
want to wish every single one of you guys a safe and happy holiday season. Hopefully
your holidays aren’t too warm but I have a feeling that it might be a warm Christmas
this year. But yeah I just want to thank all of you for all of your support in 2015. You
squids are unreal. Like, thank you so much, honestly. Alright, but getting into the Rapid
Blaster Pro Deco itself, it’s actually a very very unique weapon. Now out of the entire
blaster line, the rapid blaster pro deco actually has the longest range. Now it also has very
low damage output to sort of mitigate that so keep in mind that you’re never going
to get a one hit KO from full health and in most circumstances, you’re going to need
at least two or maybe even three shots to kill your opponent. Now, with that being said,
of course, this is another custom weapon. So the majority of the good stuff that we
are going to be talking about comes with its new kit. The Rapid Blaster Pro Deco is rocking the
Disruptor sub weapon and I’m really not feeling it. So like I said before, the Rapid
Blaster Pro Deco has a very very long range and there are many circumstances where you
can threaten your opponent with the long range and not do so with the disruptor. I guess
the disruptor can sort of be helpful when you want to ward off opponents that are really
close up to you. But, and I know you guys are going to hate me for this, I sort of feel
like Burst Bombs would have been a bit more appropriate for that. I can’t wait to see
the comments reaction to that statement. But I mean yeah that’s just my opinion. Of course
Disruptors are definitely helpful because you do need multiple shots in order to kill
your opponent and disruptors make it easier to get those multiple shots. Now in terms
of special weapons, the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco is rocking the Killer Wail. And guys,
the Killer Wail is one of my favorite special weapons in Splatoon. I think it pairs up very
nicely with the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco because I feel like the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco is
going to be played as a defensive zoning weapon and the killer wail does a really good job
of pressuring and zoning out your opponent as well. So yeah, with the main Rapid Blaster
Pro Deco weapon, you can outrange and pressure your opponents with a rapid burst of blaster
pops and follow it up with a Killer Wail to pressure your opponents escape route. So yeah,
I think these two mesh very nicely together. And of course, disrupting your opponent and
then going for a kill is a very deadly combo as it’s almost impossible for them to get
out of it. Alright so in terms of abilities, I’m sure you guys are tired of me pushing
movement and ink management. So today, I’m going to recommend two abilities.
The first one is Damage Up. Now Damage Up is really helpful on all Blasters but it is
especially helpful here because the blast radius for the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco is not
that great. And of course, if you haven’t seen my Damage Up video already, which you
should totally check out if you haven’t, you’ll know that Damage Up can increase
the blast radius of Blaster pops even post 2.2.0 nerf. The second ability I’m going
to recommend is Ink Resistance Up. The Rapid Blaster Pro Deco really struggles in enemy
ink and you don’t even have seekers to help you out this time around. So I definitely
suggest running some Ink Resistance if you think you’re going to be playing this weapon
a bit more aggressively, which I kind of disagree with. Again, I think it’s more of a defensive
weapon but hey! To each their own. But yeah, that’s all I have to say on this Splatoon
weapon for today. I really hope you guys all have happy, safe holidays of your own. Again,
thank you guys so much for everything you’ve done for me in 2015. I just want to let you
guys know that I am super grateful and super thankful for everything you guys have done
for me. Liking the videos, sharing the videos, commenting on the videos, even just watching
the videos, it all helps me out a ton. And yeah, if you’re feeling extra generous in
the season of giving, feel free to hit that like button and consider subscribing for more
Splatoon videos, and we’ve also got some more Nintendo stuff coming by the way, but
yeah thank you so much for watching! And I will catch you guys in the next one.

I disagree with your appraisal of Disruptors on this weapon; one of the biggest problems with every other Rapid Blaster to date has been its inability to splat quickly; requiring a minimum of two shots and often more without getting at least one direct hit, as well as the weapon's mediocre inking potential means that it's often trivially easy to back away from it before you're splatted. With a little Bomb Range Up, Disruptors allow you to take advantage of its great range while doing more than harassing people, as well as giving you a means of preventing weapons with worse range from outflanking you.

You know what would be good with this weapon? BEAKONS. This weapon won't kill exceptionally but would be a good support and defense weapon. Why won't Nintendo give us more beakons? I think more weapons should have them. At least a few more.

  • Reply The Nicktendo Nerd December 25, 2015 at 1:01 am

Does anyone realize yet that this kit is the exact same as the basic Blaster?

Disruptors should do just fine on this weapon since like the Bubbler, Disruptors are more useful with longer range. Especially with the Rapid Pro, since not only does it have a long range, but because the Disruptor will keep enemies in place which allows you to make a perfect shot.
That being said, Burst Bombs would do really well on this weapon, using them as a close range last-resort like how E-Liters and the Custom Jet use them. They'd even get buffed with the Damage Ups you'd already be putting on the weapon!

While I'd bet you'll be celebrating a Merry Christmas, I better play it safe with the "Politically Correct" Happy Holidays! lol

  • Reply APersocomLove December 25, 2015 at 1:56 am

You really should start utilizing correct terminology when talking about damage up. It doesn't "increase a blaster's blast radius", but rather it "increases a blaster's /effective/ blast radius". The blast still hits the same, but its effectiveness is increased due to the damage fluctuation being less hindering.

Also, not everything needs burst bombs. Especially not any blasters.

  • Reply Duke66 December 25, 2015 at 2:10 am

Nintendo gives half of their weapons kraken… But would never give it to a weapon that actually may need it. Damn it Nintendo! I'm also still salty about no inkling in smash >.<

  • Reply Lazy Corvid December 25, 2015 at 2:26 am

Enjoyed messing around with the vanilla version even though I suck with blasters (I'm not great at judging distance) so I look forward to giving this one a try too.

I know I said it before but I've been waiting to see disruptors on something with some real range since it will help you keep out of reach of a good chunk of weapons and at least take away some of that movement advantage from weapons with equal/greater range. With that said one more ability that might play well with this weapon is bomb range up to give the disruptors that extra bit of reach (if I was doing Splatoon vids bomb range would probably be my overly recommended thing lol).

Maybe it's because I'm never using them with enough attack up but I've honestly never enjoyed using burst bombs. I almost never seem to get them to splat and just end up with an empty ink tank. I can see why people like them though as I've fallen victim to them a good many times.

Hopefully a like will suffice as a Christmas gift XP

  • Reply Nick Cosby December 25, 2015 at 2:42 am

I feel like they put disrupters on the rapid blaster pro deco because it could be tougher to hit foes if noobs play with this weapon

  • Reply DarkSageWalker December 25, 2015 at 2:53 am

Rapid Blaster Pro Deco, huh? I don't know what to think about it. The Disruptors are a kinda "meh" choice on this weapon. I love it on the Zink Mini Splatling, but on this I don't think it's too strong. As for the Killer Wail, I do love the Killer Wail. After getting a quad with it on Camp Triggerfish I decided that I kinda like that weapon. I think that would work quite well with this weapon, but with the Disruptors it comes off as an unsure choice.

I agree that it looks like a defensive weapon, but I don't know if I like this one too much. Think I'll stick with the Heavy/Hydra Splatlings for that. Honestly, I think this weapon will have a hard time finding a niche. It acts like it wants to be an offensive weapon, but it's not set up to be an aggressive weapon very well. But the Disruptors aren't exactly defensive either. This one is hard for me to determine. I don't think I'll be using it much, but I'll buy it regardless just to complete my collection.

Have a safe and happy Holiday yourself, Hank! I look forward to the other content you have in store!

Between Undertale, Super Mario Maker and Bayonetta 2, it's been a while since I played Splatoon. I decided to give it another shot recently though, and while I'm a bit rusty, I still think I can analyze the newest weapon to drop into Splatoon, the Rapid Blaster Pro Deco.

I'll start with the Rapid Blaster Pro itself, since this weapon is the same thing with the original Blaster's loadout. The Rapid Blaster Pro is a weapon that I never loved. It has solid range, decent power, an explosion for hitting around corners, and its firing speed is okay, but it just never really worked for me. In hindsight (and after playing the Deco a bit), maybe it was the loadout that soured me on this weapon. Inkzooka's great, but Seekers just don't feel right on this one. I dunno why exactly, that's just how I feel.

The weapon itself is pretty good though, and I feel like the Deco's loadout plays more to this weapon's strengths than the original.

The Deco has Disruptors and Killer Wail for its loadout. Killer Wail is quite good on most weapons, since it lets you block an area for a few seconds from pretty much anywhere on the map and score splats regardless of how far you are from your enemies, and it works pretty well on this weapon. As for Disruptors, being able to slow enemies and give them effects to easily track them visually while they're swimming for roughly 40ish% (dunno the exact amount, but it's not terribly expensive, since I can throw two of them without getting a low ink message) of your ink tank is pretty good. For this weapon in particular, I feel like Disruptors are great for two reasons:

    1) Easy aiming. The RBPD does he most damage when you hit enemies with the blob, rather than the explosion, but this can be tricky to perform consistently on a human opponent, since they can move rather erratically and it's difficult-to-impossible to see enemies when they're hidden in their own ink. Disruptors tackle this problem very well, since slowed foes are easier to hit with your blob, and you can aim at swimming foes more easily since they have the disruptor effects around them until it wears off.

    2) Getaways and Parting Shots. Enemies who close the distance against a Rapid Blaster Pro will win. Unless their aim is truly horrible, you will not survive an enemy getting close to you while you are using the Rapid Blaster Pro line of weapons. The original made a good attempt at mitigating this with Seekers (a one-shot splat deployed directly in front of you), but its high ink cost kinda screws this up a bit. The Deco, on the other hand, sports Disruptors, which can prevent enemies from getting too close for comfort if you see them coming, but they also make a good parting shot if you don't see someone in time to get away from them. Disrupting an enemy as you get splatted will, at worst, just prevent them from doing much for a few seconds, and at best will allow a teammate to splat them in their slowed state.

For abilities, you're right that Damage Up and Ink Recovery Up are great options (especially IRU), but I'd also suggest Bomb Range Up to increase the range of your Disruptors. Being able to throw Disruptors to farther-off locations can allow you to addle foes who would otherwise be completely out of your range and unable to be affected by you (unless you had Killer Wail, but that isn't always a viable option, since it takes a bit to set up and fire), which I feel is pretty useful.
I'm not sure if Swim Speed Up would be particularly great for this weapon. On the one hand, the increased mobility provided by Swim Speed Up is generally great. On the other hand, I dunno if faster swimming is worth giving up increased damage (Damage Up), increased Disruptor range (Bomb Range Up), or faster recharge speeds (Ink Recovery Up). I guess it's mostly a personal call, but I wouldn't use it.

Something to keep in mind with this weapon is that its blast is pretty far away from where you fire it. This is usually good, since it lets you hit enemies with the blast while remaining at a relatively safe distance, but it also means that you won't be able to hit enemies inside your maximum range with the blast to damage them. This forces you to either get direct hits while dodging, run away, or throw a Disruptor if it's hopeless. It's something to keep in mind.

Overall, I feel the RBPD is a good weapon. It's fairly strongish and fastish, and the range is pretty solid. Disruptors let you play a supportive role by addling enemies, either for easier shooting or to set them up for a teammate to splat, and Killer Wail is great for area denial or just splatting far-off foes who aren't able to escape it for one reason or another (or clearing foes off the Tower in Tower Control). Overall this weapon just feels more effective than the RBP (which, admittedly, I never liked that much).

But I could be wrong. Like I said, I haven't played in a while, and Rapid Blasters aren't really my favorite kind of weapon (that would be the Octobrushes. Still waiting on the Nouveau…), so I might have missed something about this weapon that makes it crappy or the original RBP that makes it great. I dunno.

    Also, a final note:
Burst Bombs would be a great thing to have on any weapon (though not always great enough to be better than the sub most weapons actually have). Between the low ink cost (great for weapons that guzzle ink for their primary fire), the fast throwing speed (great for slower-firing weapons, or weapons that make you move very slowly while firing, or any Splatling), the splash damage allowing you to near-miss foes and still hit them (great generally), and the ability to throw them at far-off foes (especially with Bomb Range Up; great for weapons with short range), they're probably the single most versatile sub-weapon in Splatoon. Nintendo needs to be careful in giving out the Burst Bomb because of their usefulness, which is probably why it isn't seen on a lot of weapons for which it would be very useful (weapons with obvious drawbacks, like the Rapid Blaster Pro line or a Dynamo Roller, or the E-Liter which actually does have them). Just a thought I had.

  • Reply Rizwan Ayub December 25, 2015 at 3:26 am

I would prefer the burst bomb as the sub weapon like Nintendome said also you grown fast you started in around June of this year and you already have around 20'000 subs.

I was actually really happy as soon as I realized that this weapon carries disrupters. With a bit of bomb range up, you can now actually get kills on inklings that are in there own ink, because they would usually just swim away… This weapon is a long range pressure pressure weapon, and the threat of getting distupted within the RBP's range is huge.

    …At least that's what I think^^
That aside, great music choice in the background ;p
    Merry Christmas to you, too^^

ROFLMAO… Hank I think u need help about those Burst Bombs addiction!

I'm at two minds about the Disruptor… I do play semi aggressive with this gun specially on Rain and Tower and the Disruptor is nice if u can land one on a flank/ambush or as an escape or finisher if someone gets uncomfortably close.

But Seekers has way too much more utility on my books… it's a great movement option, popping one at blind corner exits like in exit the flanks of Walleye or the corridors of Mackerel means u can pop a few unsuspecting Squids, it's crazy effective on Ledge Peaking and a semi point blank Seeker which folks don't expect can either pop or be used to escape/create space!

I completely agree with your statement that burst bombs would have been better. Burst-canceling for the win!

i could see how burst bombs could be useful, but the blaster itself is essentially a bomb. maybe squids could run some bomb range up to compensate for the disruptors lacking range?

Huh. I did not know the main weapon was actually that good. I think I might try this version out cause I feel like seekers wouldn't help with a weapon that already threats from a long range. I'll probably just use damage up or something. Also, is there any way to contact you other than Twitter or Facebook for future reference

Facing against this weapon hard. But saying its name in one breath is as hard if not harder.

I didn't like this weapon much at first, but recently, i've been using it a lot in rainmaker. I feel like the kit works extremely well in that mode, especially with its range
