Top 10 Best Legendary Guns and Weapons in Borderlands 1 #PumaCounts

May 16, 2019

you're watching vinyl Akuma gaming hey guys Beck's another Borderlands one video countdown and today I figure we could finally go over some of what I think are the best let's share against weapons from the original Borderlands now before we get into this particular video I just want to go ahead and say that these are some of the best legendary weapons that I tend to really like if you get down to the nitty gritty you may find that some of these have better or worse DPS but I think overall all of these weapons are fairly excellent compared to most of the other Legendary's in Borderlands 1 I've also tried to include a variety of different weapons here while I won't be discussing any of the yridian legendaries I will be discussing legendary weapons of pretty much all of the available weapon types so you should see revolvers for Peters combat rifles launchers SMGs and snipers in this particular video but without further ado these are 10 of what I think are some of the best legendary guns and weapons in Borderlands 1 starting now number 10 the skull masher so it's fairly likely that if you have played Borderlands 2 then you'll know about the skull masher from that game its main problem was that it was a shotgun type sniper that was pretty much broken once the be nerf came along however I found that the skull masher from Borderlands 1 is a fairly nice sniper and while I'd prefer the Bessy pearlescent I can't deny that the skull master is quite good now the skull masher gets the unique effects from its barrel when compared to other sniper barrels it may appear to be largely inferior however it's worth considering that the skull master adds five additional projectiles so while you get a significant base damage decrease you're getting a time 6 projectile multiplier so in a sense all of this basically levels out and while accuracy and spread decrease with the skull masher barrel I found that the overall projectile accuracy is still pretty good and I haven't really had too much trouble with getting consistent critical hits for a sniper rifle I really like the skull masher from Borderlands 1 it's pretty crazy to think that this sniper rifle has appeared in all all the borderlands games so far maybe we will see it in quarterly in three number nine the nidhogg to be honest I'm not too much of a fan of rocket launchers in Borderlands 1 I think they're fairly wonky and they can be difficult to use with that said the best legendary rocket launcher in Borderlands in my personal opinion is the nidhogg in general it deals great damage at reasonable ammo consumption plus it also has a pretty great special effect where the initial rocket explodes after a certain distance and form six smaller rockets which can also explode and deal damage now the nidhogg is based off of the 2-shot barrel for rocket launchers unlike the standard two-shot barrel it's a significant improvement since it provides double the damage on average and it has severely decreased reload speed overall this allows you to quickly fire off a lot of rockets in a relatively quick succession that also deal a sufficient amount of damage as far as rocket launchers in Borderlands 1 go I think the nidhogg is the best while the Rhino is also fairly good I would say other launchers like the redemption are fairly underwhelming thanks in large part to their ammo consumption the nidhogg is the launch we are going to want to keep an eye out for it's a great launcher and I think you're going to like it number 8 the vengeance so the vengeance is both a really cool and depressing weapon from Borderlands 1 the main reason I like it is because it has low recoil high fire rate and fairly decent damages at all especially if you can get a double accessory for it however the downside is that the special effect should allow the projectiles to bypass shields much like Mordecai's trespass skill or if you play Borderlands 2 or the pre-sequel this effect is similar to the trespasser and wall nail sniper rifle unfortunately the Vengeance is special effect is bugged now the Vengeance is special effect comes from its unique weapon barrel when compared to similar non unique barrels for machine pistols you're getting better minimum accuracy and slightly higher magazine size even still I really like the overall action of this gun and I think it's a little better to hipfire with a vengeance then it would be to hipfire with a standard Vlada pistol with these same barrel but again guys I really like this weapon with the double accessory because I think it makes it a lot more powerful and if the gun wasn't bugged I have a feeling that the Vengeance would be pretty amazing and it might be in a higher point on this particular list number seven the Anaconda Borderlands one has a lot of great revolvers you've got the Chimera Unforgiven and the Ares however I found that I also quite like the Anaconda some doll especially if you can manage to get a version with the masher accessory now it's important to mention that the Anaconda is largely determined by its specific weapon barrel when compared to other non unique barrels I think you'll find that the Anaconda is providing far more damage than the others however you may find that other barrels may have improved recoil which may make the Anaconda a little less appealing however I suppose the upside is that you're still getting great accuracy and you're more likely to have better parts provided and anaconda drops in-game what's nice about this gun is that it's fairly powerful and you aren't really tied down to a specific element or lector of like you would be on either the Chimera Ares or Unforgiven this is a pretty nice revolver and the flexibility and variation on offer here is why I think it's probably one of the best number-6 the invader pistol not to be confused with the invader sniper rifle from either Borderlands 2 of a pre sequel the invader is a repeater pistol in Borderlands 1 unlike the sniper rifle variant which fires a five-round bursts the invader unloads the entire magazine while scoped while scoped you get a significant increase in fire rates until the magazine is empty for the sake of reference this effect is very similar to the destroyer combat rifle which is also made by Hyperion and again it largely functions in the same way now the invaders special effect comes from its own unique weapon sight for repeater pistols so pay similar weapon sites you're simply getting far higher bursts count and far higher fire rate than normal and something that is also worth mentioning is that the invaders unique weapon site can appear on the pearlescent nemesis pistol from the NOx DLC I found that when the effects of both weapons are combined you get a far more powerful result than you would have otherwise ultimately I think you'll find that the invader is a pretty nice repeater pistol in Borderlands 1 its shame if not a little surprising that it didn't manage to make its way into Borderlands 2 for the pre-sequel number 5 the Bulldog the Bulldog is a pretty nice tall shotgun with a really large magazine size and fairly decent rate of fire this effect comes from the unique bulldog magazine accessory that can spawn on Dahl shotgun we compared to similar magazine accessories the Bulldog accessory increases magazine size by plus 14 which brings the mag size up to 20 while similar non unique magazines only increase magazine size by just 6 in addition you're also getting better reload speed and fire rate when compared to similar non unique magazines as well like the invader there is a bizarre hybrid of the bulldog that combines it with TK's wave shotgun now it's not really worth farming for that thing because it's not particularly good but it is worth mentioning and if you ever manage to get your hands on one it is somewhat amusing to play with of course what's also nice about Bulldog is you do get the chance to spawn it with the carnage barrel and the carnage barrel allows you to turn this into effectively a 20 round portable rocket launcher that uses shotgun ammunition overall though I think the Bulldog is going to be a shotgun if you're going to want to keep an eye out for I think it's pretty good and if you can get it with a good barrel I think you are going to really like it too number 4 the Hellfire as far as system G's go I had to make a decision to pick between the bitch SMG or the Hellfire SMG while the bitch is probably more flexible as far as elemental options are concerned I found that I both liked projectile as well as damage over time DPS that the Hellfire is capable of when used on fire vulnerable enemies I think you'll find that the Hellfire is certainly exceptional now the Hellfire accessory is a particularly special however it is worth mentioning that the Hellfire doesn't receive a damage penalty like these standard incendiary accessory for smg's does this means that on average you should be getting superior based damage when compared to other malwan SMGs and additionally the Hellfire will pretty much guarantee a burn effect so not only will you be getting better damage per bullet but you're also probably going to be getting fairly powerful damage over time effects as well I think I chose the Hellfire over the other malwan legendaries like the fire Hawk volcano and Rhino simply because the Hellfire just seems to have pretty good hipfire actually to me perhaps it's because I'm playing as Lilith who tends to specialize with SMGs but I still really like the Hellfire from Borderlands 1 and dare I say that it's actually better than the Hellfire from Borderlands 2 number 3 the revolution so the revolution is a flat of machine gun with fairly exceptional magazine size at the expense of lower fire rate with that said I think you'll find that there are a few other advantages that the revolution has over other platt of combat rifles now the blood up revolution is determined by its unique magazine when compared to similar magazines on other machine gun combat rifles you're getting about the same if slightly lower reload speed and fire rate however you're also getting superior magazine size and far better recoil than you otherwise would have as far as magazine size is concerned the revolution magazine provides an additional fifty six bullets to the magazine while the standard non-unique magazine only provides an additional twenty four bullets what I would say is the biggest advantage though isn't necessarily that magazine size but it's the low recoil because this is going to allow you to be more accurate when you're taking your shots while aiming down sights as well as while hipfire in my opinion this is another great weapon largely due to its flexibility plus I think the far lower recoil than normal is pretty helpful despite the lower fire rate number two the hammer as far as shotguns go one of my favourite shotguns from Borderlands one is the hammer shotgun from Vlad off the main reason for this is I like the high fiery fairly exceptional magazine size and because of the damage that this thing is capable of putting out it's somewhat difficult to describe this but I think that the hammer has a pretty good feel to it and it essentially just plays or fires like a dream so to speak like a few other legendaries from Borderlands 1 the hammer special effect comes from a unique accessory that can appear on a flattop shotgun unlike the standard high quality explosive accessory you might see on the shotgun the Hammers accessory significantly boosts damage as opposed to lowering it and it also improves the magazine size of the weapon by adding an additional two bullets to the magazine Vlad off shotguns have inherently high fiery so combining these attributes into the gun makes the hammer quite exceptional overall I think the hammer is a fantastic shotgun and it may be one of if not the best legendary shotguns in Borderlands one number one the ogre now this isn't probably too much of a surprise if you played a lot of Borderlands 1 but the ogre on its own is pretty awesome however the over accessory can spawn on the a jack spear combat rifle creating an amazingly powerful weapon known as the Ajax ogre hybrid essentially you get the strengths of both the ogre and the a jack spear with the weaknesses of neither as I just mentioned the ogre is determined by the unique ogre accessory for Atlas machine guns unlike traditional explosive accessories this weapon doesn't get a damage decrease and instead it receives a damage increase now this would normally make the ogre above average however the ridiculous starts to set in when it's combined with the ajax spear combat rifles weapon parts the a jack spear barrel provides the benefits of similar combat rifle barrels however improves base damage and greatly reduces recoil so provided that you can get an AJAX ogre you're getting a weapon that is highly accurate has high fire rates extremely low recoil and has far above average base damage this combination can prove to be utterly devastating pretty much all of the enemies in Borderlands 1 now regular ogre is a weapon they're just going to have to get lucky and find however you can get the AJAX over by farming commander Ajax from the secret armory of general Knox DLC for Borderlands 1 while the weapon is quite rare I definitely think if you can get an AJAX ogre you're definitely going to like it alright guys that's going to pretty much wrap up this particular video if you liked this video please be sure to leave a like and let me know what is your favorite or what do you think is the best legendary from Borderlands 1 leave it in the comments but otherwise again like this video if you liked it click the bell destroy notification squad and as always take care and I'll see y'all next time

Idk about you guys but I never have liked the hammer its accuracy sucks you gotta be point blank to do any damage ide rather just have a bull dog or vitriolic Crux or a bahas bigger blaster

Dare you say it? The Hellfire from 1 wipes the floor with the imitation from 2. IMO its the best gun there is

The Ajax Ogre is awesome (or at least, it usually is – it's still possible to get a terrible version of one), but the Ogre on it's own is pretty average. Almost every other legendary assault rifle outperforms the Ogre and the only reason anyone praises the Ogre at all is because they're actually thinking of the Ajax Ogre. If you're choices are between the vanilla Ogre and any other combat rifle, the Destroyer has way better DPS, is so much more accurate and can come in any element – the only downside is it's less ammo efficient if that's an issue for you. If you're willing to branch out into machine guns, the Draco again has slightly lower damage per bullet, but exceeds the vanilla Ogre in every other way you could imagine.

It's what annoys me about the hate for the Ogre in Borderlands 2. The Borderlands 2 version is better than the Borderlands 1 version, it just isn't better than the Ajax Ogre, which isn't a fair comparison because hybrid weapons don't exist in Borderlands 2.

Hellfire, Pestilent Defiler revolver, and a Volcano sniper. Then add a Havoc with fast fire rate, high accuracy, low recoil, and i have all i need except for Crawmerax.
As Roland i use the ammo regen + magazine size increase mod and max out mag size skills.
It is quickly all over for all except fire resistant enemies with a Hellire with a 12 fire rate and high magazine capacity. Burn baby burn, disco inferno.
A Pestilent Defiler revolver with 1.9 fire rate, 6+ mag size, and scope is golden. Watch them melt.

Did he mean the bone shredder on the hellfire one because Hyperion’s famous legendary smg wasn’t in the first borderlands

So can you just do any farm like the armory farm for example to try and find these weapons? Played through the game once and I’m trying to learn more about the better gear and hybrids and all that stuff

Man Puma, been watching for over a year now n love the videos appreciate all the work on the content. Gonna make a point of going back n liking a lot of the ones I've watched. I do have one gripe though- As great as structure is to have in your videos I honestly feel like these videos are rather stale for you. Every videos follows roughly the same guidlines with very little deviation. You state facts that frankly, aren't even relevant to most people playing or watching. Like your reading off of a Wikipedia page. Not trying to hate man just a genuine worry for your channel and your interest in it beyond a source of income.

The Fatal Crux is MUCH better than the Blast Hammer. basically ALL stats are higher.

Got a lvl 12 legendary gearbox mug shot machine gun that does explosive damage out of the gold chest early in my playthrough. I'm now lvl 42 and this is still my best gun and murders everything. It is starting just now to seem like it's not that good, and that's 30 lvls later. Incredible weapon. Best I've had in any borderlands game, except for the florentine and modded illegal weapons. I'd love to get another for lvl 50

most of your picks were wrong, the Maliwan Crux, friendly fire, thanatos, firehawk, defiler and bastard should have been on your list and some weapons like the invader (normal damage just high burst fire), bulldog (just a normal shotgun with more rounds), vengeance (just a worse version of the thanatos with a smaller mag, and yes it comes in double) the anaconda (just use the skullsmasher, also the skullsmasher is THE best sniper in BL1 a crit can out do all the other rifles) reveolution (because it is just a worse bastard) and the nidhog (cuz all the rocket launchers in this game suck) should not have been on the list

Defiler and the vitolic Crux just because of it's high corrosive chance both have and having the Crux with extreme fire rate let's me mow down any enemy. Especially the lance.

Bro who misses when explosive bullets weren't projectiles😂😂

  • Reply thatnig0 May 16, 2019 at 8:23 pm

He really needs to use Roland when talking about shotguns and assault rifles. Cause they are greatly better with roland.

  • Reply Rider Lansing May 16, 2019 at 8:23 pm

I find the Fatal Crux better than the Hammer shotgun I got both of them and the Crux kills allot faster even at a distance

  • Reply Steve Radroach May 16, 2019 at 8:23 pm

Can all of these drops from the Golden chest?

  • Reply Sky_stider223 May 16, 2019 at 8:23 pm

Are there different versions of these? Like one will be stronger or weaker? Lower stats higher stats? Or are the stats for all these weapons at a static lvl and stat that stays the same for all players?
