Weekly Wire Rundown: PMK Stand-alone Exam, My Navy Portal update (April 9, 2018)

November 1, 2019

WELCOME TO THE RUNDOWN. NEW THIS WEEK, STARTING IN OCTOBER, THE PROFESSIONAL
MILITARY KNOWLEDGE, OR P-M-K SECTION OF THE NAVY-WIDE ADVANCEMENT EXAM WILL BE COMPLETED
AS A STAND-ALONE EXAM DELIVERED ELECTRONICALLY THROUGH MY NAVY PORTAL’S LEARNING MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM. THIS MEANS THE NAVY WIDE ADVANCEMENT EXAM
WILL SOON CONSIST OF 175 QUESTIONS ALL RELATED TO YOUR RATING. THE P-M-K PORTION WILL TRANSITION FROM THE
25 QUESTIONS YOU NORMALLY WOULD SEE AT THE END OF YOUR EXAM, TO A 100 QUESTION STAND
ALONE EXAM. YOU WILL ONLY HAVE TO PASS THE PMK EXAM ONCE
PER PAY GRADE. THE CHANGE IS PART OF SAILOR 2025’S RATING
MODERNIZATION EFFORTS. THE STAND ALONE EXAM WILL CONSIST OF FIVE
TOPIC AREAS: LEADERSHIP AND CHARACTER, CAREER INFORMATION, PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT, NAVAL HERITAGE
AND SEAMANSHIP. EACH SECTION CAN BE TAKEN INDEPENDENTLY, AND
A SCORE OF 80 OR ABOVE ON EACH TOPIC IS REQUIRED TO PASS THAT SECTION. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE CHANGES, VISIT
MY NAVY PORTAL AT MNP.NAVY.MIL. ALSO FIND INFORMATION IN NAVADMIN 085/18 ON
N-P-C. THE NAVY LAUNCHED AN INFORMATIONAL VIDEO WHICH
HIGHLIGHTS THE GOALS AND CAPABILITIES OF MY NAVY PORTAL. THE VIDEO UNDERSCORES CHIEF OF NAVAL PERSONNEL,
VICE ADMIRAL ROBERT BURKE’S VISION OF PROVIDING A ONE STOP SHOP FOR SAILORS TO ACCESS THEIR
PERSONNEL AND TRAINING RECORDS AND COMPLETE CAREER MANAGEMENT TRANSACTIONS. FIND THE VIDEO ON THE USNPEOPLE YOUTUBE PAGE,
OR CLICK THE LINK IN OUR STORY. THAT’S ALL FOR THIS WEEK; FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK
AND TWITTER @USNPEOPLE. FOR ANY QUESTIONS, SEND US A MESSAGE AT [email protected] FOR THE CHIEF OF NAVAL PERSONNEL, IM MC2 LJ
